Thanksgiving Memorial Service To Celebrate the Life of Distinguished Wesley Cricketer

Thanksgiving Memorial Service To Celebrate the Life of Distinguished Wesley Cricketer - Late Tyrone Jansz  on 17th October 2017

The Family and friends of Legendary Wesley Cricketer of the 1970's - Late Tyrone Jansz held a Thanksgiving Service which was well attended, to thank God for his life at the Wesley College Chapel on the 17th of October. Tyrone passed away in Australia on the 17th of October 2016. It was a very touching and moving service where Classmates and Cricket Team Mates paid tribute to this great Cricketer of Wesley - a feared opening bowler and fastest bowler in school boys during his era. Among those present were friends, team mates and family who had come from the UK, Australia and Netherlands along with his friends in Colombo.

Wilhelm VanDort who was Tyrone's bowling partner welcomed those gathered to honour the memory of Tyrone.  Nostalgic memories of Tyrone were shared during the service by Edward Vandendriesen and Braden Koch. Roger Koch led the prayers and Pastor Rene Devadason who was Tyrone's Team mate imparted the Blessing.

Mr. Haig Karunaratne who was Tyrone's teacher was also the only teacher present at this occasion, spoke of Tyrone's contribution to Wesley - calling him a true son of Wesley.

After the service a Dinner was hosted for those present by Tyrone wife Bernadine Jansz at the Old Wesleyites Sports Club.
